This is the first painting in the mural project to be done off of Bridge Road...
It was part of en event sponsored by Keep Martin Beautiful.
The program included a mural painting at the Banner Lake Community Building, recycling education, household hazardous waste collection and electronics recycling event, a community cleanup and celebration event at the nearby the Banner Lake Park.
The colorful puzzle mural symbolizes that it takes the hand of the community to pull the community together.
Each cloud piece has human head silhouettes that are pieced together by a hand to form the small fragment of a puzzle with the theme “reuse, reduce, recycle, respect”. As the mural goes around the wall - all the puzzle pieces are unified together
in a quilt background creating a joyous place for silhouettes of children to leap and play.
Important Co-Sponsors for the overall week long event were: Waste Management, Keep Martin Beautiful, Jenkins Landscape and the Banner Lake Club.
Keep Martin Beautiful received a $10,000 grant from the national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful Inc. as part of a nationwide effort sponsored by Waste Management that encourages local solutions that improve community environments.Keep Martin Beautiful was one of the 15 winners nationwide, chosen from a field of 42 entries in the 2009 program.
This is the third mural in the project, which also goes around the corner of the building.
